I had been a "nominal" Christian for many years. I had the opportunity to go to Cursillo from my church. I became very aware after Cursillo that I was not a Christian and probably never had been except for a few times in the Marines or when I got cancer. I was invited by a member of my reunion group to a breakfast to hear Jerry Leachman speak and filled out a card saying I would like to know more about the Center. I was contacted by Todd and we met one on one about ten times and many things changed in my life and I realized how much God meant to me and how much God loved me inspite of all my many sins. I studied with Todd and did lessons and readings that I was assigned and then one day we prayed that with God's help we might get a group of seniors together and it came about that Todd was able to start a class with 8 very senior citizens, all of whom wanted to know more about God and Jesus. This group has meant more to me and my growth as a Christian. I am so greateful to God for using Richard and Todd in such a wonderful and meaningful and caring way to teach us "old men". We are all hopeful that our group will continue to grow. We now have ten in our group and are hopeful and prayerful that we can start another.

After my first B’ham Country Club breakfast, the power of God began to work for me. An invitation from a friend, of which I hardly know and still to this day don’t know very well, invited me in. Why did I go, not 100% sure but I had an interest to see why so many men, frequented The Center. I’ve always desired God’s word but never took the initiative alone. Seeing other men with similar issues convinced me, I needed to attend. After all, having great food and amazing speakers, all of which are blessings from God, really gets the day going!! The Center opened its doors and many resources for me. Helping to study God’s word. Via one-on-one sessions, study bibles, and now 6-10 friends help me walk with God, daily. As God opens and closes doors in my life, this is one open door I’ll always be gratefull for.

Bible study in a group format enables us to better recognize and appreciate God's love. Only through this realization are we able to fully understand His plan for our lives. Additionally, sharing experiences and prayers strengthens each member as well as the group.

Demands on our time and other resources only increase with each passing day. The result of this pressure is we often misunderstand or do not address our own needs. Bible Study in a group environment enables us to give these issues the attention they deserve. The result is improvement in every phase of our lives.

I benefit from the CFEL Bible Study for three reasons . First , the message is honest and unvarnished .It's laid out there with no political agenda .I need this laser beam focused on biblical truth to find equilibrium . Second , the message is always applicable to the real world and daily life . There's no pie in the sky theory or whimsical storytelling . It hits home to living as a Christian. Third , I've received countless insights from the other men in my group . Everyone is struggling like me to strenghen their faith . I've learned that we're all on the journey and I'm not the Lone Ranger .I've received courage to life my faith from the group dynamic .
