Glenn Campbell |
 |
|
Background |
Glenn has been in full-time ministry for 26 years. The first 22 years focused solely on student ministry, both here in the US and abroad.
His student work centered in the local church with a strong commitment to outreach and leadership training. Glenn was a founding member of the Pittsburgh Youth Network (PYN), a non-profit organization created for the purpose of recruiting, equipping and placing professional youth pastors in churches around the city. He also served as youth pastor at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Glenn moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1990, where he established Student to Student (STS), at Church of the Apostles. The ministry began with
2 small group bible studies of high school students. STS eventually grew into a weekly student-led worship service involving over 500 teenagers. However, the backbone of the ministry consisted of over 80 small group bible studies.
|
Prior to coming to Birmingham, Glenn and his family moved to Durban, South Africa to duplicate & establish a STS ministry format in Durban. He formed a non-profit organization called the Durban Youth Mission (DYM), which partnered with local churches to reach kids in the local schools. He served as president for 3 years. DYM is now under the direct oversight of Young Life, Africa.
Glenn's gifts in communication have been leveraged to share the gospel message with over 10,000 students at various camps, conferences and churches.
In June of '05 he came to Birmingham to lead a church planting team with the purpose of establishing a "church for the unchurched". He served as a catalyst and Lead Pastor for over 2 years before accepting a position at the Center.
|
|
Role at The Center |
Since joining the Center, Glenn is primarily focused on establishing small group studies. His small group strategy centers on multiplying groups by apprenticing potential leaders. The model emphasizes partnering with believers to invite their seeking friends: thus, combining evangelism & discipleship together in the context of a small group environment.
Glenn will also combine his student ministry experience with his current focus with men to develop shared Father/Son and Daughter ministry opportunities such as: special breakfasts, retreats, mission trips (local/global).
